A Story

I attended a benefit luncheon yesterday at the Union League Club for an organization that my cousin volunteers at and is on the board with other 'professional women.' My cousin's mother introduced me to a guest at our table who is a good friend of her's from the suburbs. "This woman, mrs. so and so, is my friend who's husband is the dentist who i told you about who's son is in Grant's fraternity at the University of Iowa."

"Oh yes," I replied.

"I think we met Grant when we went up for parent weekend. And how are you connected to Grant?," mrs. so and so said. "Are you his mother?"

Shock and laughter ensued.

"No actually," I replied. "Grant is my brother."

cristina, I want people to mistake you for MY mother. no. I want people meeting you who happen also to be acquainted with me to think that I am your child.
